News and AnnouncementsThe Friends of the Library Annual Used Book Sale was a huge success. An ENORMOUS THANK YOU to all the Friends and Volunteers who spend countless hours making it all happen. The Big Read is coming to E. G. Fisher! We are pleased to announce that E. G. Fisher has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to participate in The Big Read, a nation-wide program intended to restore reading, literacy and literature to a place of cultural importance. The goal of The Big Read is to involve the entire community in reading and discussing one book. This year's selection is the American classic To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. E.G. Fisher will be hosting events centered around To Kill a Mockingbird in February, 2009. Check out the new titles on our New Book Shelf. We have new titles by James Patterson, Alice Hoffman, Janet Evanovich and Scott Turow among others. You'll also find a new collection of short stories, My Mistress's Sparrow is Dead, edited by Jeffrey Euginedes and featured on NPR. New non-fiction titles include Beyond the Body Farm, Tragedy in Tin Can Holler, and Once Upon a Quinceañera. Visit the Library Blog @ http://fisherlibrary.blogspot.com/. Volunteer Voices is a statewide digitization program that provides online access to sources that document Tennessee’s rich history and culture. This program involves the collaborative efforts of Tennessee archives, historical societies, libraries, museums, and schools.
